Mothers & a Mother of Pearl Necklace

mother of pearl necklace & earrings on wood

There are mothers. And there is are Mother of Pearl stones. They have more in common that you may
realize. Both my necklace and earrings are made with protective orgaqnic mother of pearls stones.

I did some research. Mother of pearl is the common name for 'nacre'. Nacre is a material that coats
the inside of the pearl, oyster, freshwater pearl mussel, and abalone shells. The pearls already have an
outer layer of nacre.

The smooth nacre in the inner shell surface helps protect  (just like a MAMA BEAR) the soft tissue
of the sea creature from external debris. Sweet!

Hanging vines and earrings

silver earrings hanging from a vine
Hanging vines are just gorgeous. On this wall they are sprawled out in their own artful form. Hanging
plants in baskets are just as appealing to me. And of course dangling earrings are fun little
little ornaments that get to hang form your ears! Dangle earrings feel so femine and fun. I love to
decorate everything. Included my ears, how bout you?!

Green on green with an Irish Coin necklace

irish Coin necklace in hand in the garden
For the love of all things green and this Ireland coin necklace. This piece was a special request from
a true Irish lass, Noreen. She even has dual citizenship - here in the US as well as Ireland. And her
favorite color just happens to be green! Bright green pearls and a big beautiful green Swarovski crystal
may she feel like the Queen of Ireland!

Coin necklaces are little treasure of art history. The coins are full of beautiful detail that tell a story.
A story about the culture its from. You may want a necklace just for the love of old coins.
But here are few more ideas if you are looking for a meaningful gift

  • Family heritage (or the country that you relate to the most)
  • A place you've been dreaming about (bucket list)
  • A memorable trip with friends or family
  • The location of a special ocassion  (wedding or event)

I am happy to make anyone a custom coin necklace. Or you can shop my Wanderlust coin Collection
where you'll find One-of-a-kind necklaces or my designs that are available at all times!

Sweet petite earrings enjoying the garden

silver disc earrings hanging in the garden

My sweet petite earrings are most certainly enjoying the garden! Actually a lot of the jewelry that I
create gets to have garden-time. Why? First off it's a very pleasant place to spend time that's
calming and feels good. Secondly the garden offers so many photo opportunities. Always a beautiful
back drop that's hard to resist for jewelry (or any photo for that matter).  Add in a colorful flower or two
and things begin to pop. My little hammered earrings look so sweet here.

Japanese art in a necklace

Japanese coin red gemstone coin necklace on rock

Of course there is a wide range of styles when it comes to Japanese art. This coin from Japan features
intricate designs that are different on each side. This coins are tokens of Art history. Each coin tells
a story about the cuture it came from with symbols and designs.

I wanted to design an authentic necklace that matched this authentic coin. Starting with the colors of
the flag of Japan. Red and white. Sweet and simple.

Enjoy the land down under with a New Zealand Coin necklace

Purple pearl NZ coin necklace with a starfish

Both New Zealnd and Australia are considered to be the land down under. That's because these
two countries are located in the Southern Hemisphere, 'below' many other countries on the globe.
New Zealand is famous for its national rugby team, its indigenous Maori culture and its picturesque landscape.

The artwork on my 1980 New Zealnd coin necklace is a koruru - Maori carving of a mask. I t almost looks
like a butterfly to me. I love the intricate detailing. If you have been dreaming of Newland this necklace
might be for you.
